Seventy-four million (and counting) Americans rejected the re-election of President Trump; choosing instead, a new era, a new day in America: Joe Biden will become the next president of The United States of America; and coming with him is Vice-President elect, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA). Biden will become the oldest man elected president, at at 78; and Sen. Harris will become the first Black South Asian woman elected Vice President. History is made!

History will also show the country rejected another four years of bigotry, racism, Xenophobia, perpetual lying, nihilism and narcism. For four years, margined communities were living in a nightmare, a hay fever, constantly in fear of what will come next. Would Trump ban people of color from the economy, as he banned trans people from the military? Would Trump kidnap our children, as he kidnapped children at the Mexican border? Would Trump indefinitely assign the National Guard as watchdogs and slave masters in communities of color?

Those fears are evaporating. Communities of color, and America as a whole, can breathe again. Despite Trump’s temper tantrum; refusal to concede; and stating that the “legal votes” are ones that voted for him — the era of Trump is expiring. Joe Biden is our president-elect, and his inauguration is on January 20, 2021.

In the coming days, weeks, months, and years, America must face some difficult conversations, in particular, with White and Cuban communities who gave seventy-one million (and counting) votes to Trump, a known ratchet liar, sexist, racist, immoral, demigod. Those conversations will be difficult and intense; tears will flow and hearts will break; getting to the bottom of the truth is never easy, but it’s always necessary.

For now, though:

Breathe. Celebrate. Smile, because seventy-four million (plus) Americans saved Lady Liberty from death!
